Miss Myanmar International

Miss International is one of the 4 biggest beauty pageants in the world, alongside Miss Universe, Miss World and Miss Earth. It was founded in 1960 and hosted its first event in Long Beach, California. In 1970, Japan co-hosted the pageant in Osaka for the first time and has been hosting the event in Japan ever since. With the purpose of realizing ‘world peace through mutual understanding’, it has created more opportunities for each country’s representative to engage in ‘goodwill activities’ and improve international business. The beauty pageant is aiming to contribute more to the international community by donating money to underprivileged children around the world and protecting the natural environment. This allows its participants to ‘improve their inner selves’ to become ‘Beauty goodwill ambassadors’. Miss Myanmar International (MMI), is a Yangon-based beauty pageant organization, that was first found it 2012 by MTF (Myanmar Tourism Federation). The event has been organized by AIM TREASURE Company from 2017 onwards after signing an agreement with MTF, who had been, from 2012 to 2016, in charge of the pageant. As one of the first national competitions in Myanmar, it has been held annually for the past 6 years, continuously spawning a string of young and qualified beauties that demonstrate tenderness, benevolence, beauty and intelligence. The crowned winners of the event are given the opportunity to compete against other countries, as a representative of Myanmar, in the Miss International pageant held in Tokyo, Japan. Its previous winners include Nang Khin Zay Yar, Gonyi Aye Kyaw, May Barani Thaw, Emerald Nyein, Inngyin Htoo, Sao Yoon Wadi Oo, May Yu Khatar and Khin Ohmar Myint(the reigning queen,2019). Miss Myanmar International 2012, Nang Khin Zayar was the first from Myanmar to participate in an international pageant since 1961. Through this, MMI has made it possible to further promote friendship, goodwill and Myanmar’s culture among other nations of the world.
